FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: How much dry ice will the device hold.
A: The ice basket will hold approximately 10 pounds of dry ice.
Q: Does dry ice fog leave a residue?
A: Dry ice fog does not normally leave a residue. However It is pure microscopic water vapor and therefore may have some brief slight humidity type effects on some surfaces.
Q: Can I attach a hose to the exhaust port in order to distribute the fog in a precise location?
A: Yes, the exhaust port is 2.6 inches in outer diameter. Using a hose clamp, a 3 inch flexible duct may be secured to the port. A 2 inch pvc connection may also be attached to the inner area of the exhaust port for hose attachements as well.
Q: How long does the fog effect last?
A: The fog effect is completely variable by user control. Approximate machine output times range from 3 to 15 minutes depending on light or heavy adjustment. Fog effect duration may range from 2-5 minutes depending on environmental or HVAC affect.
Q: How long may the dry ice be inside the
machine before I use it?
A: To obtain the most
efficient output we recommend loading the dry ice into the machine
just before the effect is desired, or for no longer than 30 minutes
inside a hot container. There is no harm in leaving dry ice in the
ice basket for longer than 30 minutes but the maximum fog effect
obtainable will slowly diminish as the dry ice evaporates prior to
being submerged into the hot water.
Q: Where can I buy dry ice?
A: For the best effect we recommend using dry ice “pellets” available at local dry ice distributors. The dry ice pellets are easier to manage when loading the machine. If you cannot obtain the pellets locally, dry ice flat blocks are available at many name brand grocery stores. You will have to break the blocks by lightly tapping them with a hammer into smaller pieces and then dump the pieces into a cooler or insulated bag. Q: What is the difference in using a “single element” or “dual elements” ?
A: The EZ ICE FOG Machine has two independent 120 volt heating elements that should be connected to seperate power outlets. When using both elements the device heats and re-heats the water faster than using a “single element”. However there may be times when using dual elements is not possible due to power restrictions. In this case a single heating element may be used. When using a single element the fog output is the same but the initial heat up and re-heat times are longer.
Q: How far away does the remote transmitter work?
A: As with any radio frequency device the effective transmission and reception depends on physical and electrical interference. You should be able to achieve a usable remote operation distance of about 150 feet.
Q: What is the major difference between the EZ ICE Fog machine and the nimbus full size or smaller size cloud type machines?
A: The EZ ICE Fog machine produces comparable if not slightly better fog effects when compared to a full sized nimbus cloud type machine. Smaller or "junior" sized nimbus cloud type machines do not provide the same level of fog output, duration, and ice capacity as our larger device. The Jr. sized machine also has a single heating element resulting in longer heat & reheat times when compared to our dual heating elements . The EZ ICE Fog machine is the only dry ice fog machine with wireless & manual operation options as well as a digital temperature gauge. The EZ ICE Fog machine is variably adjustable from minimal to maximum fog output whereas the competitors device has only 2 settings of low & high. A slightly larger water capacity and specific output design makes for aggressive dry ice sublimation and a more forceful fog effect output. Our product also features a one piece non-breakable aluminum ice basket and is considerably less expensive than the competitors cost.
